Type of a scam Other
When the owners called to inform me of this they said this person had sent a phone number to call if there were any questions, so I did a back-trace of the phone. There were no records to be found for the number they gave or the number the message was sent from which leads me to believe this person is using a texting app that generates a fake phone number.
Luckily no trees were cut down, but the owners said there has already been someone else out there trying to do the same saying they got a text message from the owner saying there's a tree they need cut down immediately. I wanted to make this known for all the real estate agents in the area so that you can keep an eye on your listings. I believe that it's vacant listings being targeted, as the one I'm referring to is vacant currently, but the sellers happened to have renters next door to inform them that someone was there.
