Type of a scam Yellow Pages/Directories
Supposedly this year they are offering updated pricing and we’d get a 1/2 page “spotlight ad” for $489.50 for the year 2018-2019; where a 1/4 page ad is $589.50. She said that emergency numbers would also be listed with our ad. She said she would like to have it wrapped up by week end or no later than next week. The ad submission would need to be sent to adinfo@uac4u but we'd need to call her to let her know it was sent. Two more red flags: the email address was not automatically recognized when typed in an email or Google, and through normal channels we would not have to call to let them know it was submitted.
I sent my marketing team contact an email earlier to check on the company because it seemed odd. So after talking with Mary and getting the information I Googled it and found other ScamPulse.com reports. Then I called our local Chamber of Commerce to ask if they were working with this company, along with the county. They were not and assumed it was a scam. My call was the first to check with them, so there may be more to come.
And a tongue-tied Mary called me back while I was typing this...she was clarifying costs on the "spotlight ad" of $489.50 and the double "spotlight ad" for $589.50 and wanted me to know. And that they "definitely have graphic designers who could update my ad so I wouldn't have to go through my marketing contact in St. Louis for these magnets." For these "magnets"?! Think she's getting confused with all the wonderful offers she's throwing out there! It's too bad I can't upload my voice mail message to this report.
