My husband and I were in North Carolina celebrating our 20th anniversary. We were staying at a great airBNB in nearby Avon, but had a chance to extend our trip and booked a night at the Cape Hatteras Motel. Or so we thought. I never received any information. The whole thing was fishy. We drove by since it was close to our Airbnb, and the motel didn’t have a single car there. It looked closed. My husband called to see what was up. We were told at 11:19 on September 30th that we had no reservation for the 10/3, the date we thought we had booked. We made a reservation somewhere else that was not convenient for us. Then I was charged 280.00 for a “no show” by Cape Hatteras Motel. We called to say we had been told there was no reservation for us and frankly they didn’t look open, and a belligerent woman insisted that she was entitled to the money from booking.com.
I use Booking.com often and am Genius Status. There is no record of this reservation in my Booking.com account. Complete Fraud. We will be initiating an investigation with State Authorities

Theo website shows up when you google the hotel we wanted to stay at - it looks very similar to a standard hotel site. We put in dates and info - the rate was $90 a night and $146 of taxes and fees - after we submitted, it sent a confirmation for a different hotel more than 40 minutes away. We tried to immediately cancel and they said they could not and no refunds are available even though their website says otherwise. We tried calling the hotel and our reservation was from a different company who didn’t have our “reservation” number at all and could not cancel even though it was the wrong hotel. They told us to call a different number - now Priceline saying oh we cannot find it and cancel it either. So we’re out the money for a hotel we don’t intend on using at all. Complete bait and switch !

A now defunct (at least by that name) third party site, hotelvalues.com, charged me fees totaling $547.43 for a hotel booking, which amounted to 40% of the total reservation cost. Moreover, these fees were not disclosed to me until after the booking was made. This site has all of the markings of a scam: professional photos of the hotel, the rooms, the amenities, etc. The confirmation email was from guestreservations.com, which admitted to being being a booking partner of hotelvalues.com. Also connected to hotelvalues.com is bookaroom.com. and getaroom.com. The following phone numbers are associated with this reservation hub: (800) 327-1200; (888) 784-0416; (855) 470-1527; (800) 327-1200; (877) 477-7441. The websites for hotelvalues.com and bookaroom.com have been taken down. Fees charged to me include a resort fee $101.70 and tax recovery charges & services $445.73. The latter charge is explained as "... the estimated amount we pay the hotel for occupancy related taxes owed by the hotel and any amounts charged to us for resort fees, cleaning fees, and and other fees. The balance of the charge is a fee we, the hotel supplier and/or the website you booked on, retain as part of the compensation for our and/or their services which varies based on such factors as location, the amount, and how you booked." Additionally, a cancellation/change fee of $968.58 would be charged. Neither hotelvalues.com nor bookaroom.com have active/accessible websites, and the phone numbers cited above appear to ring to a call center in south asia. For example, the person I spoke with at hotelreservations.com knew that I had called hotelvalues.com earlier and repeated the same message to me. This is definitely a scam, but if it isn't fraud, it should be.

I made an online booking for a hotel with this company, and they sent a confirmation email with a booking number and details regarding the stay and hotel. The day before, they sent a text confirming the booking and listed a phone number to call for any questions. The day of the booking, they sent another text, again confirming the booking and listing a different phone number for help or questions. When I arrived at the hotel, they had no record of my reservation and said they had never heard of Algotels. Needless to say, when I tried to call the Algotel number, I got no answer, not then at the hotel or later, once I got home.

I was given a specific amount t with same amount for each day the same and total approx. 500 dollars cheaper then fi al amount on booking and this final amount only showed once room was booked. Tried to get Expedia to fix but they can only go by confirmed amount. Have insurance but this is not a reason that is approved and cannot get another booking with same things at the 1200 approximate fee that was original fees with the taxes etc. Too late to change since this is for beginning of June. Scam. They cannot change pricing by approximately 500 once button is pushed to book hotel!
