We rented a place in June 2023 for the month of March 2024 and Houzlet (thru VRBO) took a 50% deposit, which was not unusual. When I went to make the final pymt 30 days before, I got the runaround from Houzlet. I called VRBO (after finding Houzlet’s # out of service) and was told they could see my reservation and they would email Houzlet for me. (VRBO had no phone # for them either, which seemed odd!). Approx 6 hrs later, I got an email from Houzlet that my reservation was cancelled bec the property was not available! 2 weeks before we were scheduled to leave! They also stated they could not refund my money bec their merchant account was closed! They said to appeal thru my bank! So…. BE CAREFUL!

I booked a property in Florida in January, 2023 through VRBO, the property was listed in bBradenton, Fla. and owned by a company called HOUZLET. I followed all of the instructions sending a credit card charge for a VRBO fee and an initial deposit on the property which was to be followed by 2 more payments totaling $5,800.00. Inoticed on my credit card a charge for the initial deposit charged to a company called ORTOGOwhich I later learned does business with HOUZLET. I disputed the charge through my credit card company and they cancelled my card. So, I contacted VRBO and HOUZLET and advised both that the charge would be declined and that in order to charge a valid credit card they need to advise me how to c change the information so that there were no issue with the original charge and the others that were to follow. I was assured by VRBO that contacting the Host HOUZLET would correct the issuer. I contact HOZLET on numerous occasions beginning in January, 2023 and was advised that a leasing agent by the name of Richard would be in touch with me regarding payment. Time we nt by and I was assured that the issue would be corrected. Finally, on 2/15/1024 I got an email late in the date indicating that my reservation was cancelled as the credit card on file was denied. I immediately called the number I had for HOUZLET, BUT IT WAS OUT OF SERVICE. next I called VRBO and discussed the situation , the agent suggested he would call both numbers he had for HOUZLET. He did and found both numbers were out of service. I was advised I would get the money back for the VRBO fee and they would pursue the issue. Last night I wrote to HOUZLET again explaining my discontent and this morning I received a note from Susan Houzlet apologizing for the inconvenience and that I need to work through VRBO for refunds. Though I have not lost any money yet, I would advise that if you see HOUZLET think SCAM. Always use a credit card with VRBO or when renting anything as the card companies will stand behind your losses if they occur. In my case because I they could not charge my credit card they were unable to get the money even though I advised them I could use another credit card. It appears they are so incompetent that they don't follow through on customer requests (thank God they didn't in my case) or they are just scam artists that will take your money and deal with what comes. Read some of the reviews in this section< I wish I had done so before, and you will see that HOUZLET has a reputation for shifting th scene and stealing your money or trying to put you in a more expensive property then if you decline offering a future rental. nIn any case it appears if they get your money you won't get it back. I should add that at one point along my journey, I asked VRBO and HOUZLET WHO HAS MY MONEY AND THEY BOTH SAID THE OTHER ONE DID. BE CAREFUL!

I rented a Florida property for the Winter months of February and March through VRBO, who used Houzlet to provide the property. I paid $5700 for the first months rent plus $790 to VRBO. I was told two weeks before the rental started that the property was unavailable due to health issues of the owners. They tried to lease me another property. which I declined. After speaking to VRBO and filing a dispute with them, I was given my$795 back, but not my $5700. This was in December. I have not received my money, even after numerous times, Houzlet in emails or texts, stating the check was in the mail. It is now mid February and still no refund. Houzlet is a fraud. I contacted the property owner through the realtor who was selling the property. I was told that this property was never for lease and the owner never contracted with VRBO or Houzlet. Houzlet is a FRAUD.

We reserved property #3307030 on VRBO and submitted our deposit of $3070.78. We received a receipt, confirmation, and a reservation # by email from Houzlet on June 22, 2023. We also received a confirmation email from VRBO on June 22, 2023. On Jan. 19, 2024 we received an email from Sera Dela Vega at Houzlet advising us that our reserved and confirmed rental condo was no longer available, and she offered us much more expensive units that we were not interested in. They then advised us to cancel our reservation and we would get a full refund. Houzlet then said we are not entitled to a refund; then they offered a credit for a future rental; then they said to dispute the charge through my credit card company. Houzlet should be banned from listing on the VRBO website! They apparently have a standard practice of booking properties and then cancelling them at the last minute and refusing to issue a refund. I am reporting them and VRBO to state attorney generals, BBB, and social media.

During the construction of our home, my family and I were utilizing Airbnb for temporary stays. Unfortunately, Airbnb unexpectedly canceled our reservation at the last minute, leaving us stranded outside with our infant. In a frantic rush, I had to quickly secure alternative accommodations for my family. Fortunately, I found a suitable property on Houzlet, meeting our last-minute needs. Their concierge team efficiently assisted me in locating a place that met our specific criteria. We stayed at this property for a month and had a wonderful experience. I am grateful to Houzlet for promptly resolving our predicament and providing us with a property. I want to share my positive experience of Houzlet and I will continue to use them in the future.

I am a homeowner who listed two of my properties at Houzlet. After moving on from my previous property management company who failed to rent my property online after 3 months, I decided to give Houzlet a go. After only 2 weeks, Houzlet was able to find me a renter. My experience thus far with Houzlet has been superior! Their customer service is highly professional, they take great care of my property and is able to continue to impress me with their excellent service. I highly recommend Houzlet for your property management needs.

I am a property manager with 80 listings on Houzlet and they have helped me rent my properties time and time again. We have received around 40 bookings from Houzlet and so far and no issues at all. We also get paid faster than renting on Airbnb and VRBO. I would recommend them as an alternative platform to Airbnb and VRBO.

Wow I can't believe these reviews on this site and I cannot tell if any are real or not. Well I rented a home for 3 months on Houzlet after my airbnb host left me stranded. I had no issues renting the home or checking into the property. I am sure like airbnb they get some scam listings but again I had no issues on my end. Also they have 5000 + reviews on airbnb, vrbo and expedia maybe that should be taken into considering next time when you use them.

I also rented on VRBO for a Houzlet property. My down payment was 8 000 and for this VRBO carved ofF a $ 700.00 comission immediately. The next thing I received after my confirmation of booking was an e-mailing me an offer to upgrade. The upgraded properties were some more expensive, so less. It seemed so odd? I clipped the picture of the home from the listing and ran it through google image search. I found the listing was taken directly off the site of a Florida real estate agent. We contacted that agent and they told ua the property was never available for rent and they were shocked it was on VRBO and Houzlet. I am fighting to get my money back but wlll still lose from FX and credit card fees. In short, they steal old listings, make up a price and sell via VRBO with the hope they may 'uograde' you to another property before its time to leave or when you get the call that the property is somehow not available. This is a scam and VRBO is completely complicit with the fraud.

There is a condo advertised on VRBO that you are the 3rd party for. I was going to book a stay for month of February with my family pay a lot of money to fly everyone there and started getting suspicious of all. From the fake invoice with nothing on it, to the number of different names responding to me to Houzlet not being able to provide answers on additional fees until 30 days prior to renting, to trying to take 16,000 from me for a condo that is not even available until June 2024 with a 6 month minimum rental. When trying to call, I was disconnected many times and wasted hours trying to reach someone. There are no reviews on most of their rentals and they seem to be on every condo in Florida. This will be stopped! Scamming people out of money is a crime! All someone has to do is google Houzlet and there are so many complaints. I have printed them all.

Houzlet listed a property for rent in Pompano Beach, FL which I reserved with a nearly $2,000 deposit charged to my credit card. After repeated attempts to contact Houzlet and seeing that my booking was the only one during high season I suspected a problem. I sent multiple unanswered messages through there website messaging system with no response. Rather than risking the final payment for the rental I decided instead to cancel it. At this point I am unable to get a refund of my deposit, a response to my inquiry, and am led to believe the the listing was a scam. Be very cautious if dealing with this company, I certainly will not ever again.

I have been scammed out of over $4000 for a fee to Houzlet for a property they had no rights to on VRBO. VRBO is taking no responsibility in this. They just say they are investigating. I have turned it over to my credit card company with all my documentation of how Houzlet is claiming I signed a lease which I did not.
It is such a scam that VRBO is not doing anything about.

In Sept., 2022, I rented a short term rental for the month of March, 2023, from VRBO, who transferred the account to Houzlet. 2 weeks before we were to leave, Houzlet cancelled the reservation. I have been on the phone with Houzlet many many times for my refund, and all they say is call your credit card company for the refund. I have lost $3,705.00.

After a lot of work on my part, got 3800 back of my 4k,. Don't know why it so long to do the right thing, still lost my application fee, I think it's a struggling company and disorganized,

On December 29, 2022, rented a short term rental for march 23, paid about $200, for an application fee, about a week before move in date, paid the balance, on the day of the move in, was told the rental was not available, and would get a refund in 7 banking days, later that was changed to 14 days, the last was told to "call your card company to get credited back, once we receive notification from your credit card company we can approve it on our end." I never used a CC but my checking account. I'm not Over 4k

I received a text message from Louis from Houzlet saying that he has a client that would like to rent out my airbnb. the client was going to pay a portion and they were going to pay me another portion $782.16. I took the guest in but Houzlet has refused to pay.
