I downloaded Microsoft Teams; click on the link that was provided, automatic Mrs. Gephart came on the line, we chatted for about 45 minutes she never came on camera. I thought it was okay since this is a Remote job and there office is in Texas. After she brief me about Touchstone Golf company, and send the job description for the CSR position, she started the interview process. She send me 6 questions, that I had to respond and let her know now when I was done. Them after she review my answers Mrs. Gephart send a Message that said " Thank you for your answers, we have come to the end of the interview. The answers will be thoroughly reviewed before concluding perhaps your services would be needed here. Meanwhile provide your Name, Address, City, State, Phone and Primary Email. So as to be enlisted for proper documentation. What banking institution do you operate with to see if it tallies the company's official salary payment list." After I provided the information that was requested of me. Mrs. Gephart said "you are to check your email tomorrow by 9am EST for an email from HR about your employment status. You are also require to report online on tomorrow if considered. Please be punctual."
On Wednesday, August 16, 2023, I checked my email and 9am EST as told, nothing was there. Around and hour later i decided to check my spam folder and was able to see the email that was sent from HR with the offer letter and the I-9 and W-4 forms that I need it to review, complete, sign and send back to HR. Also on the HR email was a link for Microsoft Teams to add supervisor James Birchall: https://teams.live.com/l/invite/FAAkVV0T CPYB5kAE Mr. Birchall, is the online supervisor I was going to be reporting to or to add him on Microsoft Teams as well. Which I did.
Once I click the link Mr. Birchall tells me to introduce myself. Them he says "I will explain the job and process. You are not to ask any questions until I am done". He proceed to provide job description again, schedule while in training, and out of training, also pay rate and bonus structure. Mr. Birchall asked me about how I would like my pay I said direct deposit and then asked me about my mobile deposit limits and I advised. Mr. Birchall tells me the company will pay for the company equipment that would be provided and I would be making 28.80 an hour and one week of training with him and then I would go onto my normal duties, he explained benefits and everything making the job sound very real and I haven't ever hear of anything like this going on but my red flags were up.
Next day Thursday August 17, 2023, I sign in at 8 AM EST and told I will train till 11 AM EST and then he email me my daily assignments. Which where for me to create 3 page essay assignments. I continue to receive daily emails to do the daily assignments to create essay. This continue till Friday August 25, 2023. I asked for my scores and pay period. He said I qualify for my start up check to get my equipment. James said I would receive a check through email. To kindly let him know once I received it. Then he emailed me a check drawn on Chase Bank for the amount of 4,820.10 and said this is company money your experience in the past you know how to handle these items correct and I said yes. But when I went to make the deposit he said please wait for further instructions. So, I waited out the weekend, on Monday he didn't send any assignment or reply to my message in Teams. Tuesday August 29, 2023 comes and James says he was sending my assignment and also a new check that I needed to deposit. This time the check was from wellsfargo in the amount of 4,810. I was to print and make a mobile deposit, I did the mobile deposit for 4,810. James indicated once clear to take the money out to the bitcoin machine and send it to this person he provided me the bar code. The check never cleared my bank. I then became very suspicious I decided to go to the bank, the banker verify the 3 check that I had received 2 by email and 1 paper check. Those check where fraudulent checks that belongs to different business companies. My bank account was flagged because of that check and I worked for 2 weeks and never was paid for.
When you go to Linkedln and search these people it shows the actually work for Touchstone Golf. The business address matches with the company's location. The only thing it doesn't match is the phone number I was contacted from. I try calling the phone number that google has listed and I can never get through to speak with anyone. I search the phone number 940-344-1646 and it shows' a scam claim. I decided to block James in Microsoft Teams. But they have all my information from ss#, copy of my ID, address, etc.. They can open accounts on my name and do other scams.
