They have an ad posting on indeed for Data entry. They contact you via email requesting you reach out to them via a messaging app. They provide you with a code that you will need to provide. An interview is conducted virtually via text messaging. They then tell you that you get the job and what next steps to take. They advise you of the equipment you will need and that they will mail you a check for you to to deposit into your account so you can purchase the equipment. Before they mail the check- they ask for a photo of your social security, ID and for the signed offer letter which has to be signed manually. Once you receive the check, they ask that you deposit it at your bank’s ATM and that it should clear within 24 hours. After 24 hours they reached out telling me the check cleared on their end and that I can purchase the equipment, however check was not cleared on my end. It took 5 days for my bank to “clear” the check which was not cleared because the funds was coming from a closed account. By this time i already knew this was a scam so I played along and told the people that it did clear, they asked for a screenshot asking for proof which I made one up. Once that was done they told me I needed to go to Best Buy and told me what I needed to purchase and once that was purchased to mail it to David B. Beamer

WILLIAMSPORT, PENNSYLVANIA 17701. Once I told them I was not comfortable sending it to someone’s home they requested I send the money back and that if I didn’t they would call the police. I told them go ahead because they would be the ones to get in trouble for trying to scam me. Once I told them that the check bounced and I knew they were scammers they deleted the entire conversation. I told them, I had screenshots our entire conversation so deleting them didn’t matter to me. Once I told them that, they blocked me.
