IBS Precision Engineering Employment Scam
If you receive a text from a Jhoselyn Mauricio, it is a scam. I was offered a job interview after I was applying for remote data entry positions and was reached out to by this person. I was to download this app called Signal and get in contact with a Michael Unser whom if you Google is actually an employee of the Dutch company IBS. Interviewed over Signal then received a job offer letter from "HR" rep Sylvia Bordignon (employee for an Italian firm, at least that is what email address gave) and then I was sent a $5,000 check (from a woman in Chicago with just Schertz Bank on it) for equipment and software. My bank made the funds immediately available, I was given instructions of every step from there, sending photos as well as screenshots at every step. I was then to withdraw $4,500 and keep the $500 for an upfront fee for what I was having to do.
I took the cash to a nearby BitCoin ATM and deposited it to a provided wallet. The next day I was told that more funds were needed as fees had changed and then directed to buy VersaCheck paper and print out two checks on them. I was to deposit and probably withdraw from there but the teller was suspicious and my account was locked. This happened on a Friday so nothing much could be done but I called the Schertz Bank in Texas on Monday and was advised that the account had been compromised for months. Now I am on the hook for the money lost despite what happened.
