He asked if I knew this would happen. I said no.
He said "You did not receive an email about this disconnection?" I checked our email and said no.
I asked him what email address he has on file for us. He said he didn't know, he's just the person who does courtesy calls to inform people of upcoming disconnections
I said "I'm not the one who takes care of bills here, so I'm confused about what's happening. Have we not paid our Idaho Power bill this month?" He said he doesn't know.
He asked if I would like to call customer service to speak to someone who had more information. I said yes.
He gave me the number 1-844-622-0691, and said to be sure to call in the next 30-45 minutes. I did not call the number. I went to Idaho Power's website and checked their scam alert page. Their customer service number did not match the one given to me by the man on the phone.
My employer returned, and I asked her if she knew anything about the situation. She said that power is the landlord's responsibility. Our business doesn't even have an account with Idaho Power.

I checked with the owner about this account payment. She's caught up, no notices had been received.
I called the scam number back pretending I was the owner. Told them a fake name and the address. Was told to make the payment right away of $1998.32. that I was going to get disconnected. I told them I was going to go in person to make the payment. The man I spoke to insisted that I make the payment right away because we were scheduled for disconnect at 11:45. Again he didn't give me a name. He said he could transfer me to speak to someone make the payment by phone. I insisted that I could go in person because I was already going out to do that. He insisted they the payment needed to be a in corporate office building and not the standard Idaho Power company. Because they wouldn't know about the disconnection order. I asked why and he just repeated the same thing that the payment neededs to be I made right away and that it needs to be a corporate office.

I have pressed 1 to speak to their representatives multiple times, since, usually, once I state that my number is on the national do-not-call registry and that I will report them if I receive any more calls, other scam callers will stop contacting me; these sorts of requests have been completely ignored by this scam organization. As soon as I say anything that even remotely indicates that I know it's a scam, the representatives, who are often the same people under various fake first names [no last names, even upon request], hang up. Besides ignoring my requests, my last conversation was actually verbally abusive: I asked the representative "Rachel" [who introduced herself as an Idaho Power employee] what her last name was, if she knew what the do not call registry was, and that this number was listed on it in a respectful and polite manner, even though I was quite annoyed since this was the 3rd call I had received from them that morning, and, without even acknowledging my questions, She screams through the phone, "what the F[CENSORED]!" I ask why she is swearing at me, and, again she ignores my question and continues to yell through the phone, "F[CENSORED] you! Get a [censored]ing job you f[CENSORED]!" [pretty rich coming from a scam caller in my opinion] and hangs up before I can even get another word in.
There is no way to block or report their phone number either since they have never once called from the same number even if they call me again within 5 minutes. The numbers they do use are predominantly area code 208 numbers. All of the phone numbers they use are ones that have been stolen from average residents; I have, multiple times, called back the phone numbers directly after receiving the scam call and I either get a normal voice mail, a voice mail explaining the number was stolen, and they are not responsible for the call [this was the case with the phone number I provided above], or a normal person answers, and they are either confused by the situation or they already know that their phone number was stolen.
A few of the many numbers that these scammers have attempted to contact me through include:
(801) 391-9995 [call back voice mail had no information]
(208) 794-5296 [call back voice mail had no information]
(208) 409-5493 [when I called back, it was a lady's voice mail stating that her number had been stolen by the scammers and to leave a message if you were actually trying to contact her.]
(208) 438-5320 [when I called back, an elderly lady answered and explained that her number had been stolen]
(208) 521-3635 [an adult man answered and was genuinely confused by the situation. He just stated that it must've been someone else who called.]
