I got a pop up on my computer that said it was infected with a virus and to call 1-844-850-6811. If I didn't call the number, my computer would shut down. So, I called the number. They asked for access to my computer and I gave it to them. They charged me $199.95, which I paid by electronic check, to IFIXPC. I found out later that this is a scam.

When I opened my computer today I had a red alert on the opening page indicating that my computer had been compromised. No matter what I did I couldn't get out of it, even taking out the battery. So I called the number listex to find out. I was stupid and let them "fix it". As soon as I could access another computer I looked up the business and to my dismay I discovered it wad what I deared - a scam. They want $340 from me for this supposed work which I have been told probably wasn't done. I immediately changed my bank passwords. I unfortunately agreed to pay this some via an email agreement. What are myrights? Do I need to pay this? I have not lost money yet but after the work was done Igot a phonecall insisting I send the money now. How stupid am I. MYcomputer is now in a reputable repair shop getting my harddrive cleaned, etc. What should I do?
