Type of a scam Fake Invoice/Supplier Bill
Because I took this call while I was out of the office, I was flustered and do not remember if he identified himself as someone from our current vendor. I was annoyed with the man on the phone, because he was stumbling over his words and was not confident of what he was speaking of. I just chalked up the stumbling to him being elderly, as his tone of voice sounded older.
Eight days after this phone call, I received a UPS package at a location where we don't receive mail, which I thought was odd. I would not have given anyone this address to mail anything to. However, this address is accessible on our website as a business location. Then, in the next week, I received an invoice at our mailing address (PO Box) for $499.85. This brought to mind a scam, as I know we don't pay this kind of money for toner, as our toner is part of our monthly maintenance contract.
I started asking questions and doing research into Imaging Supply Center, and found the F rating with the BBB. The website URL does not take me to a legitimate website, and thus I believe I've hit a dead end. I will not be paying this invoice and am in the process of returning the unsolicited toner.
