They act as if it was a work from home job sent packages never got money

- Phoenix, AZ, USA • Oct 24, 2024

Since leaving my job in July of 2024, I have put in multiple applications to countless companies via their personal websites as well as through LinkedIn, Career Builders, Indeed, etc. I received an email for an opportunity in a work from home position as an "Order Selector". The offer that I received via email stated that I would be compensated $3,200 along with $140 for possible expenses AFTER completing a 30 day probation period. Since I have been actively applying for multiple jobs across multiple platforms, I did not think twice about the possibility that I may have not actually applied for the position in question. I replied to the email regarding my interest in the position. I then received a follow up email with the date and time for an over the phone interview (I was never asked which dates or times would work best in order for them to conduct the interview). I completed my interview with a female who had a strong accent that was not easily understood but we got through it. Everything she said and all of the questions she asked seemed completely legit. Approximately 2 hours later I received another email offering me the remote position to receive packages via FedEx, Amazon, UPS, etc in which I would be responsible for opening the packages, inspecting the merchandise, photographing the products to show all items were accounted for and were free of damages or defects. I would then upload this content on their dashboard and would shortly after be sent a prepaid shipping label that I was expected to print and attach to the package and then take said package to a UPS, FedEx etc location for shipping. I would then obtain a receipt that the package was shipped and upload the receipt to their dashboard in order to complete the assignment.

I am not one who is gullible and falls easily for scams. I did some research prior to accepting their offer and all of the websites/reviews etc seemed very promising which is why I accepted the position. A few days later, I was scrolling through one of my social media sites when an ad caught my attention about shipping scams through work from home positions and I decided to dig a little deeper and conduct further research about the company. After doing so, I reached out to my "supervisor" and explained my concerns and requested that they provide me some sort of concrete evidence supporting their legitimacy in which her reply was very unprofessional and only added to my doubts.

I am supposed to receive my first package tomorrow and plan to deny the package upon its arrival from FedEx.

I'm not sure what the outcome would've been had I followed through to the end of the 30 day "probation period" but I am VERY confident that I would not have received ANY of the payments or job security that I was promised.
