I was hopeful that I was getting a legitimate job offer only to really look at it afterwards and found it was a scam. I was contacted VIA text from someone named Daniel, later Asked his full name to find it was Chris Daniel. He sent a link to finish registration which looked suspect but again to hopeful.

I received a text message stating they had received my resume and that that I should apply for a job with their company. I was skeptical but decided to see where it went. I went through the "interview " which was conducted over Skype but only via written message. No video chat or phone call. The "interview" lasted approximately 3 hours from initial contact. I was told a check would be sent via mail in order for me to purchase the equipment (laptop, printer, money for internet service, and a $250 sign on bonus) I would need for the job. I was told the pay rate would be $32.75 once training was completed. I was "hired" and told to report through Skype the next morning. The entire process did not feel right so I googled it to see if there were any reported scams. Upon learning that others had also been scanned, I blocked the email address and Skype user.

Someone by the name of "Margaret Dabbs" reached out to me via text message regarding

my application for a customer service representative position for Imperial Oil Ltd. I replied back saying I was interested but to refresh my memory of the job posting. However, instead of informing me of the specific job posting, I was informed of a myriad of "open" positions. I stated I was interested in data entry or admin assist positions and was offered data entry for $41.10 and training at $21/h.

She later asked me to download either zoom or whatsapp for the interview. I did and was met with a "Gloria Macall," HR manager, who was doing the "interview." I was asked some questions and was informed the details would be forwarded to someone else to review. I was asked to wait for them to come to a decision. They didn't get back to me for a while until I prompted for a response. They informed me I was hired, and gave me a list of 3 software I needed as well as 4 office supplies. I was not familiar with any of the software and didn't own any of the office supplies on the list at home. I was informed I could purchase them through "your" vendor for a discount as well as being provided with a 2016 MacBook Pro. Then I'd be sent a check of sorts as reimbursement for the supplies purchased.

This scammer used Whatsapp to offer me a position at Imperial Oil. This scammer offered me a chemical engineering position with a pay 0f $41.10 an hour. They didn't ask me about any experience related to engineering and gave me an offer 15 minutes after. There was multiple misspelling errors throughout the conversation and another person directly messaged me beforehand saying that they reviewed my resume and was offering an accountant position at Imperial Oil Ltd.

I was contacted about a remote job, they look very official and help zoom messages interviews only. Wanted to send me a check and have me mobile deposit it , I told them no I would open an account just for this job, they tried to talk me out of it and then asked for pictures of my social security card and drivers license.

Imperial oil LTD is a reputable company however there are bad apples using their name for malicious means. I have also received a job solicitation for the same thing and have been working with imperial oil LTD Security advisor to report the fraud. The web of lies and the scam has has been incredible... I have actually gone as far as to except the position with fake information, and was able to get them to send me the check which I have no intention of cashing. I recommend anyone who receives an email from [email protected] or a text message from +1 973-520-5051 please contact the better business bureau and report the fraud, contact the Federal trade commission and report the fraud, contact IC3.gov and report the fraud.
