Type of a scam Rental
We went to "imperio rental services" in downey on September 5, 2020. One of the representatives named Ximena attended us and explained that it would be $180in total, $50 for their service (helping us find a home) and incase we found a home the remaining $130 would be used for the home deposit. We have never moved before, we have no idea what to look out for and we were also desperate to keeping our boys safe so we agreed and signed the contract (which they broke). They assured us that in case we were not satisfied with the service, after a period of 90 days we'd be able to ask for the refund of only the deposit ($130) which was only to be claimed on 12/5/2020.
We started to have red flags when we would go to the listings the agent had given us and the landlords would give us a weird look. A tenant even asked us where we were finding their address because we weren't the only ones asking and it was starting to get out of hand.
We went to fill out the "refund request form" like they told us to on 12/5/2020. They told us we'd be receiving our refund check through the mail within 10-15 business days. We have not seen a penny of our money. We have called numerous times and they always have an excuse. We are in a much bigger hole than we were in when we went for their service.
