Type of a scam Romance

While on a dating site I was chatting with by text and phone for about a month with a man claiming to be from RI and originally from Spain. He was to come visit me from 4 hours away after a business trip to NY. He calls from “NY” and says his shipment of hardware goods is being held at the dock. Due to Covid his order from Hong Kong went from $38,000 to $71,200. He said he has secured $68,000 and desperately needs $3,200 to get his shipment paid for and sent to his store. He pressured me for an entire day to get him the $3,200. I did not give him any money. I checked his website and the phone numbers listed for the business were both cell numbers. The first number was his cell that he had been calling and texting from. I called the other one and after 2 rings dead silence. About a half hour later I got a call from that number and my caller ID said Cleveland, OH. I answered and it was him and said he uses 1 cell primarily for business and 1 for personal.

I googled his business address and it is a photo of an auto body shop and advertising space for lease- not a hardware store!

This man is running a huge scam which started on a dating site and there are probably many people who have fallen victim to him. His name is Gustavo Livero and he is supposedly from West Warwick, RI and has a fake website for importhardwares.com.

I have called the Better Business Bureau and they confirmed my suspicions. This is not a legitimate business and who knows if he is who he claims to be.
