A recorded msg left a vm claiming I have been randomly selected to receive a government grant in the amount of 11, 300 dollars, and to call the number. It sounded like a call center in India, and the lady said she was irene johnson. She got 500 in ebay cards from me for application fee. She connected me to another line and told me to answer the questions a certain way, for example, I would like to ho to school in the next 3 months. A guy with thick Indian accent calls back and says he is Adam Hunter, government officer. He gets 2,000 dollars in ebay gift cards from me, charging me for processing 'cheques,' delivery fees, tracking number fees, California State Taxes. Total lost in scam $2,500.00. I feel so stupid. The bank won't return the money. Ebay won't return the money. I gave them my rent, food money, gas money, car insurance money, etc, believing what they said, that every penny would be refunded, except the taxes.
