Scammer did a false over text interview. Seemed to know a lot about the topic I was interviewing for. Gave me a whole game plan on the rest of the hiring process. Red flags were that I didn't need to sign any paperwork regarding the position, they gave me a check over email for $2500. I was fooled until I thought about how they had mentioned "you get a new laptop with all of the programs preloaded and up to date" but I was also given a check to pay for the programs I was going to need. The hiring process was going to continue after a few weeks. They seemed to be paying a lot for a beginner in the industry. We get paid in salary, but they had it listed as hourly. Unfortunate how legit it seemed, I was excited to start this new job.
