I contacted someone through Facebook Marketplace who said they were giving away a White Kawai Piano. The seller's location was in Bethesda, MD, near where I live. The person who messaged me (Destinee Mercado) said they had posted the ad for their sister, Annabella, and that I should email her at [email protected]. I emailed and they replied saying that they were trying to find a good home for their late husband's piano. They said the piano was with the movers and would need to be rerouted. They instructed me to contact the movers through their website's chat function and give them the referral ID number KUBGSMG9. I went to the website and it looked very legit, but no phone number. I opened the chat and gave them the referral number and they pulled up the piano (screenshot attached). They gave me quotes (which were actually in line with piano moving costs) and I said we'd prefer to pick up the piano. Then they told me the piano was in Leesburg, FL (?). I googled the company name and found a company that matched (DC Transport Inc) and had the same address as the website (1300 E Devon Ave, Elk Grove Village, IL 60007). I called the number for that company and they said that wasn't their referral number or their website, that they had been hacked last week, and that it was probably a scam. But I was curious so I continued engaging with the chat. I pressured them to give me a phone number and they finally gave me ‪(929) 344-2593‬ , which I googled, and led me to another report on ScamPulse. I asked them to send me the invoice and that I'd pay through PayPal. They sent an invoice attached to an email requesting payment to Elizabeth Bryan with the email [email protected]. They also requested that I "Friends and Family" option and all I should put in the description was my name. They asked me to send a screenshot of the completed payment. I didn't pay (of course) and asked for the Zelle info instead. At this point they were on to me and getting annoyed, but finally they did share the Zelle: [email protected] (Cashier's Name: Edgar Alejos Carballo). I attached screenshots of the website with the chat and the email asking for the PayPal info.

I responded to a Facebook ad for a Kiwai upright piano. The contact person claimed they were helping their sister sell the piano after her husband passed away. They said the piano had already been moved because she was relocating and directed me to a moving company, "DC Transportation Inc.," to arrange the rerouting of the shipment. The movers quickly provided an invoice, along with a photo of a piano, but insisted that payment could only be made via PayPal or Zelle—not through traditional business methods. This was a major red flag. The payment details were: Zelle - Chefalejos @ gmail. , Name: Edgar Alejos Carballo.

These scammers often imitate legitimate businesses by creating identical versions of their websites and using the names of real employees that are publicly available, subtly altering the company name. When you search for these workers, real businesses and people show up, making the scam seem more convincing. In this case, they were impersonating Sealion Cargo’s information and employees. However, the name they provided for payment did not match any legitimate businesses. SCAM ALERT: DC Transportation Inc. on the website www.dctransportationinc.com is a scam. Their phone number: ‪(929) 344-2593‬

Answered ad on Facebook for a Kiwai Upright Piano. Contact person said they were helping sister whose husband died to get rid of his piano. The piano was already moved since the house sold and need to contact Peregrine Falcon Movers company to get the piano shipment rerouted. The Moving company showed photo of a wrapped piano and quickly provided invoice but payment could only be made by PayPal or CashAp. The contact for PayPal was to be made to [email protected] with request to pays as a " Family & Friends" transfer and only list my name only as description of payment. The email contact photo looked like a sketchy person in his mom's basement, not what would be expected from a claimed International Moving company. Did not make payment since the payment method was questionable. Found almost identical transaction on your ScamPulse.com Scam Tracker web site.
