We received an offer in the mail by someone trying to represent Smart Energy of Massachusetts. They offered us a visa gift card and provided an 800 number for us to call to activate it. We were suspicious about the offer because we don't have Smart Energy although they worded it to suggest that we are customers and thanked us for enrolling, but we have Eversource.

When we called to find out what they were about, they wanted us to give a pin number that was included in the mailing. We declined and asked to speak to a supervisor. That person also said the same thing. We declined again and hung up.

We followed up with the real Smart Energy Massachusetts and they indicated that this is definitely a scam and asked us to report this to the BBB.
