This then said there was an issue and to contact Amazon at (I believe) 1-848-288-5317. Individual indicated they were with Amazon and our account was accessed. Said they would assist in blocking future access. First two individuals said they were unable to block and said they transferred us to the Amazon Security. That individual (at 1-206-415-6887) said we needed to use our "Amazon Blocking Card" to block the four sites, located in NY, AL, Mexico, and Russia, that accessed our account. I did not know what the card was and was told to go to the closest Amazon store, show my ID, and they would give me the card. I said I had no idea where one was located. The individual said they also used third party stores like Walmart or Target. I was instructed to remain on the phone, go to the store and that Amazon credited our account's card the amount of the card and was sent text messages saying it was Amazon, and it indicated the amounts and verification codes. I purchased the Apple Gift cards as instructed, provided the code on the card, and they supposedly would use the card codes as blocking cards to block the IP addresses. I got suspicious and texted my wife to contact the credit union's card company. In actuality, the amounts of the gift cards were deducted from our account and the cards were already redeemed. Unfortunately, tried to contact someone at Amazon and was never able to find an actual telephone number to contact their security.
Since this all began as us trying to go to Amazon Prime Video, and the login and number provided on screen looked official, I thought it was legitimate.
