Opened a letter that was trying to get my girlfriend to send $98 to get a copy of her deed to her land. Googled and they have been doing this for awhile. Saw a case from 2019

I received a letter in the mail saying it’s from the county records office, LLC in Tampa Florida. Says Broward County public information my legal property address and all the information about it and then they said there’s a service fee of $98 and they wanted my credit card number. Obviously, this is a scam because on the top of the letter, there is a disclaimer that says the documents offered by this advertisement are available to Florida consumers free of charge or for a lesser price from Broward County. There is a requested respond state of 11/8/24.

WHEN I BOUGHT MY PROPERTY TWO YEARS AGO, I GOT THE ATTACHED NOTICE WHICH I IGNORED. MY DAUGHTER ALSO GOT THE SAME NOTICE THIS YEAR AFTER HER PURCHASE. THEN TWO YEARS LATER I GET THE SAME NOTICE AGAIN. WHY WOULD I PAY THESE PEOPLE $89.00 FOR A RECORDED COPY OF MY DEED (NOT EVEN A CERTIFIED COPY), MY ORIGINAL RECORDED DEED WAS SENT TO ME WITH MY FINAL TITLE POLICY FROM THE TITLE COMPANY THAT DID THE CLOSING, WHICH IS NORMAL PROCEDURE FOR A REAL ESTATE PURCHASE. THIS IS TO LET PEOPLE KNOW THAT PUBLIC RECORDS ARE FREE AND YOU CAN DOWNLOAD A COPY OF YOUR DEED FROM THE COUNTY RECRODS ANYTIME, OR REQUEST A CERTIFIED COPY FOR A FEW BUCKS.
