I own a small mom & pop family cake business.
Although our business is successful, we have had a hard time finding employees with the particular skills set required for our shop, especially since COVID. I met Angela Marku, a recruitment agent, who owns New Gate Alliance Inc. which is a company that hires workers for you through the Government of Canada’s Temporary Foreign Workers Program (run by ESDC). She seemed trustworthy and we signed a contract, she had a business card and she event sent me an invoice for my payment.
I paid Angela $1600 pus HST which is $1808 total on August 17, 2022 by cheque.
I have not had a single update on the project since August 17, 2022. Every time I ask to meet with her she makes an appointment with me and doesn’t show up or doesn’t answer my calls. She provides excuse after excuse every single time and I kept being patient and giving her chance after chance. Eventually I realized that she is a scam artist and I decided to speak to my daughter about the situation. My daughter emailed her stating the facts, attaching the contract and invoice and simply asking for a refund for a service she did not provide. We did not hear from her. She eventually called me saying she will come see me over the weekend and of course once again she did not show up. I am upset that she was supposed to provide a service which I paid for and she did not deliver. We are a small business and have been waiting for almost a year now for employees through Angela. I am also worried she is scamming other hard working people so I decided to escalate the matter by filing a police report. I also plan to report her through the Temporary Foreign Worker Program directly as she is using a federal program name to scam innocent Canadians.
I have all the documents to provide if you need them including the contract, her business card, the invoice and our email exchanges.
I would like her to be stopped so she doesn’t scam anyone else.
