A couple of days before, I talked with Spectrum (the legitimate company) about my Spectrum account. I asked if there were any way I could get my billing amount reduced. I was told no. So a few days later when I got the call from the scammers representing themselves as Spectrum and indicating that I was eligible for a 50% discount, I was thrilled. The timing was so perfect, it just completely threw me off my guard. In fact, the deal was perfect. All I had to do was prepay 6 months in advance then I would be locked in a rate of $44.99 for the next three years. That aligned so perfectly with my retirement plans–in three years I would be retired and would no longer need internet service for working remotely at home.
