I applied for a job on Indeed by a company called "Infoville". They listed on their website that they have locations in India but only one in New Jersey. They emailed me saying that they wanted me to start working for them next week and they'd send me a check. They made sure to say they'd never ask for bank information, yet want you to deposit the check in your account to buy gifts for an "orphanage". I looked up the company domain, and it was created October 15, 2020, literally a week or so after I applied for the position. They then told me that the position I applied for was no longer available, and that I was to become a personal assistant. I also looked up the phone number, and the service provider was located in India. I never knew how easy it was scam someone until now and I'm only 23. Keep a lookout for a potential employer. If they don't wish to speak with you on the phone, or say they're "hearing impaired", and will talk through text or email, run in the other direction!
