I am selling a truck and “Dave” contacted me via text. Said he was eager to meet up this week to check out the vehicle. He asked for a vehicle history report. After sending him the CARFAX link, he claimed he wanted a different report, and sent me a link to a website called Instant Auto Paper, because “it shows different information” than the CARFAX report. He was quite insistent, but something felt off. The website looked amateur and it required my credit card information. I Googled “VHR scam” and came across many examples very similar to mine.
