July 12, 2021 @ 9:54 am, received a call from Matthew from Integrated Genetics. He claimed that as a Medicare Part B participant, I was eligible for a free genetic testing kit that was required under Medicare. He asked if I or anyone else in my family had high blood pressure (I answered no), high cholesterol (no), heart disease (no), or did I ever experience being tired (no)… He replied, "you’ve never felt tired?" (no)… continued to press me for some indication that I would ‘fit’ their criteria. I said that I “wasn’t interested,” said, “please do not call me,” and I hung up. I got this same call a couple days prior, and at that time said I wasn’t interested. They called again today. I researched Medicare and genetic testing, and found that tests that are not medically reasonable and necessary (because the patients did not have the required risk factors) probably won't be covered under Medicare and they certainly aren't required. Although the test kits may be free, the resulting lab test may not be free. Is Integrated Genetics trying to garner more business by tricking elderly, Medicare Part B, people by sending them these unwanted test kits? There is an Integrated Genetics webpage which indicates it is a Lab Corp Specialty Testing Group. If they were a legitimate company, why would they use an invalid phone number? (I called back the phone number on my caller ID, and it was not a working number.) I think this company is involved in fraudulent or misleading advertising and it should be investigated.
