Orig. call came on June 18, 2019 at about 10:30a.m. there was obviously a connection issue with the call... After 3 failed attempts to call my husbands cell number, we gave them my number. The male caller, speaking with a very heavy Indian accent, then began explaining that my husband had been randomly selected (along with 1499 other people from every state) to receive a government grant for being a stand up guy. Let me just say this, my husband does deserve a prize like this one, however both my husband and I began to sense a scam. When we started asking questions the man became increasingly forceful and rude, interrupting our questions by getting louder and repeating what he had already been saying. He already had some demographic information about my husband, we played along by giving him info from a prepaid account that would be easy to close and had no monies to lose. The caller stated that we had to take the grant ID (a 6 character code) and call another number 518-804-3324 and give it to this other person to qualify to take possession of the grant. Wanting to provide the public with as much information as possible we called the second number. The man who answered identified himself as Jordan Sanchez and told us that we had to go to any store and purchase a card (I don't remember what he called it) for $270.00 USD, in order to avoid state taxes and fees. We told Jordan that we didn't mind paying taxes. He then insisted that if we didn't purchase this card that we would have to pay the taxes on the $9,400.00 before we could receive it. That is when I decided to call Jordan out by telling him firstly that we didn't have $5.00 to pay out toward this grant and it all sounded like a phishing scheme, I asked him what his name was and what the name of his company was, Jordan's reply was to call him back when we had the money and then he hung up.
