Second time I was called by this same person I noticed his voice was not of an american nationality and his english was very bad. He knew my first and last name and said There was a report that I was in debt to the IRS for over a year for $17,000.00 and I must pay emeditly or be put in prison. He also asked me who did my taxeses, H&R block or did I do them myself? As soon as I told him we had them done at our local military base because we are retired military and the base attorney did our taxes, he hu g up . He knew I had him at that point and the svam was up. By the way I feel I need to add that my husband and I did report one of these calls a year ago to a local IRS office and the told us that they NEVER call people for any reason. Also funny how this guy trying to scam us said I owed the IRS $17,000.00 when my husband amd I always file jointly and we got over $4,000.00 back this year because we were were able to claim our out of state move. So people just remember one huge thing. The IRS NEVER calls people for any reason, let alone to collect a debt. Use some common sense.
