I got a call from some guy who clamied to be with the IRS, threatening me and demanding money or saying I was going to sit 8-9 years in federal prison. I called my mom bawling when she informed me that the IRS will never call you.

- Edmond, OK, USA

It was an automated voice saying that I hadn't paid something to the IRS and that they issued a warrant for my arrest. It then told me to call a different number with the area code 815, I didn't write the number down, unfortunately. It told me to call that number and that an agent was waiting to talk to me.

have received numerous voicemails claiming I'm being audited and to call Ryan Smith.

- Verona, PA, USA

They left a message on my answering machine that this was the IRS and then they said Internal Revenue Services and that they were filing a lawsuit against me and I had to call the number above immediately. I did not call the number.

- Sterling Heights, MI, USA

I received a voicemail message stating: "Internal Revenue Services the reason for this call is to inform you that IRS is filing lawsuit against you to get more information about this case file please call immediately on our department number (206)582-6062, I repeat (206)582-6062, thank you.

- Bigfork, MT, USA

This call purported to be "Officer James Brown" with/from the "Internal Revenue ServiceS" [Note the use of plural for the word Services, unheard of in my experience. Furthermore, the call utilized a computer-generated voice, another tip-off that this was a scam.

I did not call back on the above toll fee number.

I received a message stating that this is the Internal Revenue Services and the IRS is filing lawsuit against me, to get more information about this case file please call immediately on our department number 979-633-455, whenever I called the lady repeatedly ask for my name as if she couldn't hear me, I hung up, called back to get the same results

they called and left a message on my answering machine stating there was a warrant out for my arrest involving the IRS- gave me the above number and said I need to call immediately- I did call the number and a person identified himself as Internal Revenue Services- no name- he then put me on hold and the line went dead- I did not give any personal information- they had called my number several times and my mother was answering- she couldn't understand what they were saying so she hung up the phone- I called the local police department and was told I should report to Better Business-

A woman with a strong foreign accent called today and identified herself as Sarah. She was claiming to be calling from the Internal Revenue Service and provided a bogus IRS badge ID number -002572. She stated that an FBI investigation has been filed against me and a warrant was out for my arrest for an undisclosed amount of unpaid debt. When I said I will have to check with my accountant first, they hung up. I know that the IRS doesn't initiate contact with taxpayers by email, text messages or social media channels to request personal or financial information. In addition, IRS does not threaten taxpayers with lawsuits, imprisonment or other enforcement action. Beware of this number and do not give any personal information. The scam artist also had my full name and address on file.

They left a message that if I did not call them back that they would issue a warrant for my arrest. That they were from the Internal Revenue Services. That I was in trouble and that if I did not call them back that they would get the local police department involved for my arrest. That there were several serious charges.

A man has been contacting me stating he was from the IRS and I had a warrant for my arrest because my taxes had been miscalculated and the warrant would be issued in 48 hours and I would have to go to jail for two months. When I question if it was legit he became angry and started threatening me I stated I have right and you can't speak to me that way. He tried to put me on hold. I hung up. He has been calling and leaving threatening messages on my phone for weeks. I called back today to see if this was valid he verified my information with my phone number.

- North Conway, NH, USA

We received two voicemails today claiming they were from "Internal Revenue Services". Note that it didn't say The Internal Revenue Service. The syntax was stilted and a little off, somewhat like the Nigerian scam e-mails we often see. The message claimed that it was the final notice that IRS was suing us. Since we have received no contact from the actual IRS, we assume this is a scam. We did not call the number, so we were not at risk, but I'm assuming some people would call the number and then be a potential scam victim. The message did not mention any names, so this may be a computerized dialing program.

Thanks,

Michael Kerins

They told me I owe the IRS $700 and I would b arrested by the sheriffs if I didn't pay the exact fee if I hung up. Then demanded my debit card number to resolve the issue right away. Then connected me to another person. They both had an foreign accent

Received 2 phone calls today saying the Internal Revenue Service(s) was filing a lawsuit against me and to call the above telephone number.

Callers name was Alex Parker, Id # IRM511, cited Case File # *** (called from phone # 202-864-0140) and stated I had under-reported my income since 2009. I hung up upon hearing this, and did not provide any information. Callers voice was a heavy foreign accent and sounded very unprofessional. There was a lot of office "clatter" in the background.
