DON'T FALL FOR IT!
I played along and used a credit card, knowing I could request a chargeback. They then provide a secret password, which an agent later calls to confirm before moving to the next step: setting up a crypto account. The follow-up agent, who also speaks excellent English with an Indian accent, is eager to proceed.
This is where I challenged the suspected scam, asking why they don’t follow the same process as legitimate brokerage firms. Of course, he gave multiple reasons why they operate differently. I also questioned why their phone numbers were Canadian instead of UK-based. He gave me a rehearsed excuse.
Anyway, I called American Express, reported the scam, and requested a chargeback. A few days later, I checked my online account, but the site no longer existed. However, I am now hounded by two calls a day from Canadian phone numbers, which I refuse to answer. They constantly change their number to bypass my call-blocking feature.
