I just got a call from IPL (Indianapolis Power and Light) saying that if I did not call back within 30 minutes, my utility was going to be shut off. Well, first of all, I've paid all my bills, but more importantly I don't even have IPL as my power and light provider! I called them back to ask what was going on and they hung up on me. I called back, this time asking who IPL was. At first he would not tell me, when I pressed him, he said it was Indianapolis Power and Light. I asked them what this was all about, particularly because I don't even have their service. He said, "Well then, you don't have to call back 2, 3, 4 times" and hung up on me. Further, the number from which they called was spoofed to say their name so it looked like it was someone I might know.

They were calling to tell me I have a past bill of $600 dollars and they had a man out in the area and if I didn't pay it they would be out to turn off my service. They wanted me to send the $600 thru Zell. I got out my bill and explained I had no disconnect due. She said if it was an error they would refund me on Monday. This was Saturday. They contacted my boyfriend 1st and then he questioned me and I contacted them back.
