I had posted on social media that I was looking for financing for 13 episodes for a TV show I am creating.
After our initial conversation, I was sent a contract.
I showed the contract to my lawyer and she wanted me to ask them some questions.
J L called me yesterday, as scheduled....
He didn't know there was a listing of his company on LinkedIn showing the company's listing was in Florida - he said they used to have an office there.
I asked him for references of people or projects he's worked with and what experience his company has had as far as financing projects in the entertainment field.
"We don't work that way"
and
"How do I know you won't call them up asking them for money?"
I would say I wanted references but then he would act like I meant investors.
When I asked him again he said if I would spend $3,500.00 he'd tell me some investors names.
I said, "but you won't tell me for $1,500.00?"
Mr. L said: "First we have to make sure you're real"
Finally, he just gave up on me saying he can't work with me and wished me luck.
I used the word indemnify while talking with him and he didn't seem to know what the word meant.
