I am almost certain this is a scam for the following reasons:
1. After a basic search I could not find a profile for an Ashley Baumgartner working as a human resource manager for Isle of Freight Inc. While this isn’t exactly cause for concern, I could not find a single record of any employees for Isle of Freight. No company directory, no reviews on job seeker sites (unusual for a company of that supposed size).
2. Their website claims they have offices in Canada, the US, and Australia. After a simple search of the business registries in those countries, I could not find any businesses registered under the name “Isle of Freight Inc” in the US or Australia. The one in Canada was registered less than 6 months ago (January 17th, 2023) and their website claims they have been in business over a year. Again, the website is full of awkward phrasing and odd formatting choices. Despite the appearance of a company website at first glance, there is very little actual information there.
3. The only information available online about this company seems to point towards it being a scam. I found a forum post of an identical email being sent to someone in December 2022 (before Isle of Freight Inc was registered) and the company name being used was “Hellscat Freight Inc”. Another user reportedly had the same email job offer, but from a company called “Jagruh Freight”.
The person sending the email (“Ashley”) referred to me as a candidate, and asking for a response about whether I was still interested in the position. As I mentioned, my resume is public so I never actually applied to the position. I believe this company is preying on desperate job seekers - I do not know in what capacity, possibly trying to steal personal information such, but I do think there are enough suspicious circumstances surrounding this company to warrant an investigation into their true purpose.
