I applied over LinkedIn for a data entry position. The position paid $45 an hour, which was my first clue something was off. Then I was told that I would receive an email with a check for $2000 that I needed to mobile deposit into my bank account, (2nd clue), then I would need to send $1900 back to them for my equipment to be purchased, (3rd clue). So I have played along and I have the check with a lady's name on it. I am going to call the bank it's written off of and provide any information they would like. Please let me know if anyone has any ideas on who else should be notified.

So I got a txt for a DE job paying $27 an hour. I had applied on Indeed for one of there job baits. Did the interview via text, which I thought was odd, but is apparently a thing nowadays. Oddly, "Paul Cohen" is on and off and never follows through like a real person. The offer was immediate. Got an email from [email protected] with an application. The application was very informal. I can't believe I gave these guys my SSN. Now I have to call my bank. The odd part was they said they will write me a check for 1670 dollars but I would have to pay it back to a company vendor. That's when I did my research. God, this [censored] never ends.

I had the same experience with this scammer except the $$$$ supposedly being offered was $27/hour (still way more than most places pay for Data Entry). I even did the text message interview, finding it weird. then they sent an offer of employment really fast. That's not how the hiring process works at all and then i found this page and saw it was yet another scam. Don't fall for it! Thankfully it never got to the stage where i gave personal info. I'm desperate but skeptical.

Same script as the others, but didn't let it get far enough to even an application.

Surprisingly my wage wasn't anything outlandish, BUT his verbiage over text was slightly bizarre. Honestly if it wasn't for my own experience, I'd think others might genuinely get scammed by this.

A lot of "..." and "!" really gave it away for me.

I just got a text saying they wanted to interview me over sms for a data entry position that paid $45 an hour. Figured it was a scam cause no one pays that much for data entry. Anyway I was bored and did thier interview questions but never gave any extra info that is not already on my resume, name, town, state, phone number and email. Well withing 20 mins of doing the "interview " I got an email from them to fill out a basic application and that I was hired. Words in the email were missing and making the sentence hard to read at times and also had the INC after the company name. Which before even doing the interview I looked up the company and there is no INC at the end of anything Jacobson Group at the real company. So after I got my "your hired" email I told them that I'm not getting scammed by them and they won't be getting my personal info. Funny part was I said I was looking for part time work and the hours of work they told me was "Work Schedule: You should always be available and always notify me whenever you are busy." LOL that is not how a part time job is.

Same happened to me today only the guy said his name is Johnathan Blotner. Told me about the $45 hr data entry position which to me was pretty high for an entry level position and no thorough interview. I did my research on the Jacobson Group site and found that their Data entry clerk positions listed for $17.50 an hr. I went back to Johnathan and told him this and asked him if he meant to tell me about the Risk Manager position which was around $75,000 a year. He then said "yeah its the Risk Manager Data Entry position". I have a Business HR degree and I have never heard of that kind of position lol. Then the application that was emailed to me was in paper form that you could not edit. I'm like "how in the hell can you guys afford to pay somebody $45 hr but don't have an updated Application program that allows applicants to at least edit a form". So many red flags. This is most definitely a scam.

Received a text message response about a position that was listed on Indeed for a data analyst position at $45 an hour. The person introduced himself as "Dan Frey". They want personal information and send an approval letter. You also receive a text saying the company will send you a $2300 check that you need to deposit. You are to deposit all of it except $150, the rest will be sent to vendor for equipment/software. I called the main office at 866.944.2701 and they have no "Dan Frey" as a recruiter...

I just had the exact same thing happen to me for the Jacobson Group Inc that the previous person described. Interview over text, data entry position, not the shame recruiter as the one on the. job posting. I called the text number that was being used and it's a number only for texting. They wanted personal information on the job application like SSN. I could not get specific answers out of them. I even called the actual Jacobson Group and gave the name of the supposed interviewer, Dan Frey, and she told me no one work there. She also asked if there was an INC after the name and said if there is, that is not us.

I applied for a job posting to be a data entry clerk. The first red flag was that the job posting was less that 50 worlds, were as most job postings are detailed and comprehensive. The scammer did a interview over text message. Posing as a interview manager. The company he was impersonating was legit, but i could not find him by name on LinkedIn. The job host; who posted the job, was not the person contacting me, nor worked at the same company. The final straw was when he gave me an application to fill out that asked for extremely sensitive information. The logo was not in the document, and the email was not branded correctly. He was using the legit email address of the legit company; they must have hacked into their server.
