A black male knocked on the door asking if we would like for him to lay pine straw, pull weeds, and clean up the front yard. He said labor was Free and the bales on pine straw were $5.50. We are new to the neighborhood and I asked how many bales of pine straw he though it would take. He did not give a number but said he would lay them out and save all the strings. He did the work with (2) other males and knocked on the door saying the total was $3000. I was shocked. I have little knowledge on the amount on pine straw needed for a yard. He continued to push that he could show us the number of strings and that they did the work. We settled on $2500 but were not comfortable. We paid with a check. He then left us with a business card: Boykin's Landscaping Contact Jamal Boykin (770)-300-7110. We looked him up and he see that he was arrested for exploiting older adults in landscaping fraud in North Carolina. We would like to make our community aware that he is doing the same thing in the Columbus/Midland and surrounding area.
