Nov 2/23 I responded to an ad from Ontario Rebates regarding quotes for a heat pump. An email from Osato Omorogieva (<[email protected]>) was received by me the same day briefly explaining how heat pumps work

Nov. 4/23 Mr. Michael Kamaru Senior Energy Consultant Ontario Energy Rebates, [email protected]; (613) 413 8731, ontarioenergyrebates.com. Michael told me that the company he represents is offering an energy rebate via the Federal Government. He informed me what was offered through this program and the heat pump offer interested me. He explained to me that my hydro and gas savings would be significant, which also interested me. I was told that an energy auditor would come to my home to evaluate what was required for the heat pump install. I was led to believe that the initial funding would come from the Feds. Michael quoted that 2.9% interest would be charged for the first year, and following that, 4%. He claimed that all wiring and plumbing in my home would be covered in future. I asked how this offer is feasible and was told that the Feds wrote up the policy, to which the company (JBR Assoc) had no input. I was then asked if I would like an application to be sent in on my behalf for funding.

Nov 4/23 8:15 p.m. I was sent a document via Pandadoc - Anita Burns Approval AppAnita Burns Approval App by ONTARIO REBATES. These documents are automatically signed and dated, whether or not I signed them. Shortly afterwards, I was informed that my application had been accepted and did I wish to continue with an energy audit. To my knowledge, the audit entailed an energy advisor coming to my home to inspect and decide what was required.

November 5/23 Someone did come and identified themselves as an energy auditor, who took pics of the house. There was no credentials given. Shortly thereafter, someone else showed up. They tore out the existing two year old air conditioner and started installing a heat pump. I contacted the company and was passed over to a Mr. Sam Fulga. I told him that no install was talked about and there would not be an install happening until I received documentation to further explain the terms and conditions. This is what he sent to me - Sam Fulga <[email protected]>;

?Hi,

The monthly payment associated with the program is $165.66 plus applicable taxes, this is the amount that will be withdrawn from the account associated with your void cheque.

I immediately called Sam back and told him that that is not what I wanted to see. I wanted actual paperwork. He assured me that the installer had all the paper work. Twelve hours later, and the installer was still here. I was extremely unhappy. Also, none of the product he installed had a TSSA or ESA identification on it, so when the installer was done, I mentioned that to him, and asked for the paper work. He handed me a work order and said I needed to sign off on it. An argument ensued. I told him I would not sign off on anything, until I saw the documentation I had asked for. He kept repeating that he was "just" the installer and I had to sign off or he would not be paid. So I signed.

I contacted this Financeit to ask what this was all about and was told that JBD applied for a loan on my behalf for the heat pump!! I was incensed! Upon contacting JBD, I was told that they use this finance company, however, I was not told any of this beforehand. I was under the impression that the Feds were involved and no one else. I contacted Sam Fulga. Here is my email - Hello Sam, this will explain why I had repeatedly asked u for the terms and conditions of the heat pump install BEFORE anything went forward. I just received this email today from the finance company. They tell me that after the first year my interest rate will jump to 16.9!! I asked you and Micheal specifically about that and you both told me that it would rise to 4% only. This is deceit on your part. To my mind, both you and Micheal misled me. You had also advised that you would wave the first two months of payment or defer payments to start Feb 1. This email tells me that my payments will begin on Dec 1. I told Michael and you that I could not accommodate that and both of you said any issues could be worked out. I would appreciate it if you would work these current issues out. Starting with the interest rate and when my first payment will begin.

I was offered a deferment of two months as the installer took 12 hours to install the heat pump, which I found unacceptable.

November 10, I was sent a document via [email protected]. I tried to open the document but was unable to so I emailed signwelldocs to let them know I could not open the document and therefore cannot sign anything. However, another rep name Parso has come into the picture and told me that I had in fact signed! I told him he was mistaken, yet he kept insisting I had signed. I had not.

Nov. 10/23, i sent Mr. Fulga this email - We have some issues we need to discuss Sam, ASAP - I have issue with the Rest of Term: Loan Details – Rest of Term Payment Information and Cost of Borrowing 11. Payment Amount (Rest of Term) $349.00 16. Remaining Balance at End of Total Loan Term $22,486.53 12. Rest of Term (months) 48 17. Payment Frequency Monthly 13. Total Loan Term (7 + 12) 60 18. Total Amount of All Payments Due by You ((6x7)+(11x12)+16 + 21)) $41,484.45 14. Annual Interest Rate for the Rest of Term 13.9900% 19. Cost of Borrowing (18-5) $14,364.45 15. Amortization Period (months) 180 20. Annual Percentage Rate (APR) 11.5872% 21. Administrative Fees $49.95

It was explained to me that the first 12 months would be at 2.99, then 4% after that. It was not explained to me that after the first year, the monthly payments would increased to $349.00. I am not able to meet these finances. I was given false and misleading information. I will be contacting the sales rep who first contacted me about this rebate. I strongly protest this. As well, which finance company is supporting this loan, you or Financeit!?

Hi Sam. One document I received has an interest rate of 16.9, then I have another document that says 11.6!! Please send in writing the exact breakdown including interest rate for the full term of the loan which is 15 years. I'm nervous when I see contradicting terms. I'm confused why it says my monthly payments will go up to $349.00 after 12 months. Please explain

Nov 12/23 [email protected] <[email protected]> I have yet to receive the documentation I had asked for at the last conversation I had with you people. I was told within 24 hours, yet I still have nothing. It appears to me that this whole thing is a scam after all. I've been getting misinformation from you and from Michael which is concerning to me. As an example, the interest rates, of which I have three different quotes has still not been established. From what I've heard to date, 4% interest is not guaranteed, yet that is what you and Michael told me it would be. You both also told me that I would receive a rebate in approx 2-3 months, however, I've since been told by Simply Financial, that in fact I will not be seeing a rebate for 12-24 months!! Big difference there! It was not explained to me on what this rebate is based on. So the amount could very well change as well!! I have your email stating that I will receive a cheque for the first two months, YET I have no idea when this cheque will arrive. Will this take a year as well?? I have my doubts that you and JBR Contracting are following the Federal guidelines for this heat pump install. No where at any time did u tell me that you were seeking finances via a finance company. I was led to believe that it would be the Feds I would receive financing from. Too many instances of misinformation! I have read the conditions of a greener homes loan, and nothing you have offered me comes anywhere close to what the Federal government is offering. The grant is not a given nor is the amount you quoted me.

I trust I have made my position on the install and loan conditions clear. I await your response

Nov 12 - Support JBR <[email protected]>I have noted that I did not in fact sign off on the documents you sent to me. If they are signed, you did that on your end. Therefore, how are you able to move forward with this contract.

I await your response

Nov 12/23

To: [email protected] <[email protected]> I did not officially sign this document as I was unable to download it. So, how is it you have a signed copy?? If you do, then its fraud! I am following up with the Federal government in regards to this whole mess. I've been lied to and purposely misinformed.

At this point, Parsa was the only person allowed to speak with me. No one else would take my calls or answer my questions. Parsa advised me that if I cancelled my contract, their workers would be around to uninstall the heat pump. Which put me into panic!!! As well, I asked him where the cheque I had been promised by Sam Fulga was, and was told they needed something in writing to say I was not cancelling the contract before he would answer my question. Parsa said that a notation had been put on my file to say I had cancelled. I had not. I was still trying to get answers at this point.

Nov 13/23 -Thank you for contacting Financeit!

Kindly note that loan is not yet funded so am not sure why payment is coming from your account , you need to contact SIMPLY GROUP FINANCIAL CORP, and find out about payment taken from your account.

Nov 14/23 Sam Fulga - I let Sam know the electrician was coming to install a new breaker panel as all the fuses in the house kept blowing.

Nov 15/23 I called Parsa yet again to try and resolve some issues. I asked about the grant amount and when I would receive it. Initially, I had been told it would take 2-3 months before I saw any monies. On the day I spoke with Parsa, he changed that time line to 12-24 months! When I asked him why the change, he just laughed and said I should read anything before I signed. I told him I haven't signed anything, and haven't received anything over and above the emails. I am concerned that JBD will keep the rebate, if indeed I even receive it.

JBD played fast and loose with the Fed guidelines as I have come to find out. I do not know if any of their techs were properly licensed as well. The heat pump blew fuses and we were without lights for a day! I called them on their guarantee of replacing wiring and plumbing free of charge and they did sent an electrician out to install a new breaker panel. If everything had been inspected before hand by their energy auditor, I do not feel fuses would have blown. Nothing was discussed before hand about what type of heat pump we would need, etc. When I said I felt heat pumps would not heat the whole house, I was told the pump was an artic one which worked in -34 temps! If it did not, a new one would be installed, free of charge. But again, when I asked for this in writing they refused. I felt my hands were tied as the pump had already been installed, our furnace was torn apart to accommodate the pump and our two year old air condition was removed as well. They were going to take the conditioner with them, but I did not allow it.

Nov 21/23, Parsa has advised that another energy auditor will be coming in to inspect the work that was done. If he/she was satisfied with the work, the grant would be submitted to the Federal government. Please note that a week previous, I had asked Parsa for a copy of the grant submission and an application number, which was not given. He said the grant had already been mailed, yet a week later, his story changed that it had not My request for a copy of the submission has yet to be granted, as well as documentation for the loan and warranty from Simply has not yet been received.

I am strongly concerned that this company is perpetrating fraud and a scam.
