I found a pet on www.jeannemaltipoodogs.com and paid $700 for the pet and $110 for transport. I then received a phone call and email telling me that new airline rules required a special crate that I could rent for $2700, 95% of which would be returned when the puppy arrived without damage to the crate. When we paid this, we were informed a few days later that the puppy had to be insured for $2500. I contacted the "breeder" and told her I would pick the dog up myself. She said she could not remove the dog from the delivery company. She offered to pay some of the 2500$ if I would pay the rest. I refused and again told her I would pick the dog up myself. If she refused to allow me to do this I told her I would report her as a scammer. She then threatened to call the police and report me for pet abandonment. She included what appeared to be a cut and paste of a law citing pet abandonment as punishable by up to 4 years prison or $50K. I told her that if there was no pet, she had committed fraud. If the dog I had purchased actually existed, then according to our contract and the ownership papers she sent me, I owned the dog and her refusal to let me pick it up made her guilty of theft of my property.

I have since found exactly the same dogs on another site that I believe is run by the same people. The site www.jennysmaltipoos.com asks for less but shows the same dogs. The dogs, the pictures (background and all) are identical. The dog I purchased (Bella) is still marked as available on both websites and hasn't aged a day since early April when I first contacted the supposed breeder who identified herself as Jeanne Eduard Guzman. The "delivery company" is www.Flypetexpress.com and would appear to be part of the scam as well. I have given their phone number above but they also called me from another number (720-773-7111). I hope these phone numbers will allow you to track them and even to shut them down.

I have saved every email and all our interchange has been done by email. Normally I would have been suspicious when the delivery people came up with their first demand, but my husband was so happy to be getting another dog and I was happy to see him happy because we have had very disturbing news about his health. We have since found a hypoallergenic puppy in our city and he is doing a great job lifting my husband’s spirits.
