The scammer emailed me about a job offer for a remote position with Sharecare Health Company on 3/4/24. A Mon-Fri, 9A-5P job, with the reference number for the job being SHC-US-3455. The email listed benefits, pay, information about the company, and a contact in HR; Jennifer Breda. The email asked me to set up a Zoom account for the interview. I did, the interview was over Zoom chat, and I was "hired" on 3/6/24. Mrs. Breda sent me a check over email not from Sharecare, but from Pathways Financial Credit Union, in the amount of $3855.00 to "purchase equipment and software necessary for my new role." Mrs. Breda instructed me to mobile deposit this check as to have access to the funds faster to start my new role as soon as possible. I did on 3/7/24, but the check was flagged for fraud/insufficient funds. A hold was placed on my account, and when the check was returned on 3/12/24 for insufficient funds, it put my balance -$3612. As Mrs. Breda and I have been chatting almost daily over Zoom about this issue, I remarked that I had yet to receive any I9, W4, direct deposit, or other official tax and governmental related paperwork as I had received from all other legitimate employers. I asked her to email me these documents to prove that this was a legitimate position, and Mrs. Breda removed me from her contacts on Zoom. I have received no emails since. I have kept all documentations, Zoom chat logs, and emails regarding this issue.
