We run a pet boarding and daycare business. This individual contacted us requesting a quote for boarding services for one month. Not an uncommon event. During the email correspondence this individual indicated she liked the quote. She went on to explain that due to her being out of the country (sailing) she would have a "shipper" drop the dog off. She indicated that she would provide a credit card number to pay in advance as well as requested that we charge her card an additional $1500 so that we could pay the shipper for her. This was because the shipper would not accept credit or e-transfers. We were to take the additional $1500 and forward it to the shipper using a swift money transfer. She provided some of the information we requested in order to set up a boarding profile. Giving information like her dog's name, breed, weight, etc. She also provided a picture of her and her, presumably her baby, and the dog, all sleeping on a chair. It is worth noting that the information she provided was a little suspicious. She called her female dog a he and quoted the weight as a range rather than an actual weight. We advised her that we would not get involved in any arrangements with her shipper. There was no further acknowledgement of our emails except that weekly she would email us indicating that she was waiting for a response.

Here is the text from one of the emails she provided:

Hello ,

I am happy to let you know that I have decided to allow my dog to be bring down at your place(as stated in your last email....Total with all taxes included is: $854.28)

I will prepay you directly with my credit card but before I do so, I want to make a humble request. I have contacted a mover(shipper) to make arrangements for the air flight tickets and other package to bring my dog down to your address. I have already concluded arrangements with him pending the receipt of his funds in the amount of ( $1500 ) and I'm not able to pay him directly because he does not accept credit card. Unfortunately, I'm unable to make bank transfer to neither him nor you due to my present sailing location.

On this note, I hereby authorize that you use your credit card machine and charge my card for a total amount of $2354.28plus tax.

When you receive the funds in your account, deduct and keep your accommodation fee of $854.28 and send the balance money to the shipper via a swift bank transfer. I will provide you with the shipper's bank details. All taxes, bank charges and commissions will be deducted from his fee before the transfer is made.

Kindly confirm this arrangement and get back to me with your NAME, ADDRESS and PHONE NUMBER for my records.
