I received a job offer from someone claiming to be "Marcia Dorosiev," the Talent Acquisition Manager at American Eagle Outfitters, who contacted me via email. The message was sent from an unofficial email domain and contained a job offer for a remote WordPress developer position at a high hourly rate. The recruiter invited me to an interview on Skype, using the handle "live:.cid.3c0e1699959df97a."

During the Skype chat, Marcia quickly confirmed my employment without a formal interview. She provided details about my salary, training schedule, and office equipment, which would supposedly be paid for by the company. She then requested sensitive information such as my full name, address, email, emergency contact, and mobile number, and informed me that a "startup check" would be sent to cover equipment costs. Marcia also instructed that I deposit the check and use it to purchase materials from a specific "certified vendor," claiming this was necessary to meet company standards.

Upon asking for further confirmation of her legitimacy, the recruiter dismissed my concerns, stating that the company "does not engage in fraudulent activities."
