We searched Facebook to purchase a Conure and connected to this link (https://www.facebook.com/joburgBirdFarm/) and they offered an African Grey for $480 + $120 shipping. When we declined initially they took another $50 off. We proceeded with purchase through PayPal which they said to send via through Friends and Family to avoid additional charges. This was obviously to avoid the PayPal guarantee for product purchases. They provided a picture of the bird and and then provided us the timeline for the purchase of three days. They updated us when the bird had an appointment with the vet to put all documents together. We asked questions regarding the feeding of the bird for which they stated we would receive a pamphlet with all the information along with two days worth of food with the bird. They then provided us with an itinerary of the birds shipping and stated that our bird would be handled by a courier service that would deliver the bird to our door (Superior Shipping Courier; [email protected]). The day of delivery we were then notified by the courier service that the shipper did not provide the correct carrier and we needed to "rent" a temperature controlled container for $850.00 of which $800 was refundable upon delivery of the bird. This did not sound right for which is when we researched this company and found a similar situation listed on ScamPulse.com that happened to another person. We stated that we were not able to provide the $850.00 and asked for a refund of at least the $430 as we would pay for the shipping cost. We were told they would get back to us and then blocked us from any further communications. Most communications went through Messenger and email. We did receive a phone call from the courier but it was a missed call and then received an email afterwards. Additional information on seller is located on invoice.
