I received an email inviting me to apply for a job as a "storage processor;" i.e. someone who received shipments from vendors and sent them on to customers. I did a little checking on the company and they looked legit despite being fairly new; I was desperate for a job and was particularly suited for this type of work, so I went ahead. I was required to purchase a printer and supplies for it ($600). They also recommended that I get a security camera. I signed an NDA, filled out a W-9, and was given a 30-day conditional trial during which I was on call for forty hours a week to receive and send packages, with the promise that I would be paid an introductory rate of $3420 for the month, plus reimbursement of my initial expenses incurred. If my performance was satisfactory I would be hired as a full time employee with a monthly wage of $3700 plus expenses up to $150.

During this month I shipped one piece of costume jewelry, one baby bottle, and ten Apple, Motorola, or similar tech items. I met every deadline and passed their assessment quiz. I was told they would make a decision on whether to hire me full time within ten business days, and my "conditional paycheck" was in the mail. Ten days came and went but the check never arrived and they never responded to any of my inquiries. I have screenshots of all the company-provided materials, a record of my work chats with my "supervisor" and all the emails exchanged, if any of those are necessary. I also have the names and addresses of all the package senders/recipients and pictures of all but one of the items that were shipped.
