This person named Matthew Vaughn posed as a supervisor for the company John Albee Realtor and hired me to create graphic designs for a freelance project. They originally offered me $6800 for phase one of the project. I negotiated and it got raised to $7200. They doubled the pay for an extension of 4 weeks to the project which amounted to $15,200. I waited until they signed my freelance services agreement and sent me a cashiers check from Bank of America. They asked for a receipt of the deposit and I sent it hours after I deposited at the bank. The next day I was updated that the extension was postponed. They asked for the second half of the money back until they got an update on the second phase of the project. This is when I realized it was a scam.
