I listed a few items for sale on Facebook Marketplace. This morning I was asked if one of the items was available I told them yes and would they like to pick it up. The person asked for my contact number. So I gave them my cell phone number. Then they said in order to avoid scams they would send me a 6 digit code to verify it was me and could I let them know what that number was. So I sent them that verification number, not knowing that this was not how things worked on Facebook Marketplace. Then they said that the number was still not verified and they needed a number of any one of my family or friends to verify and then that's when I knew it was a scam. When I called him out on it they disappeared and I was unable to send them any more messages. I looked for the name on Facebook and he or she had disappeared Into Thin Air. They went by the FB identification of Jona N. Long.
