Jose Contractor, told me he is a contractor with Forman and many crews who does construction and showed pictures of work he has completed on his cell phone. He also said he will finish the work in 10 days. I asked him to send me a contract. The invoice / contract he sent had the Pac Inc on the top, business No, $12500.00 for total and address. I just ensure all the item we discussed are in the invoice/contract. I agreed and he started immediately. He came over with a crew for few days started removing walls, digging ground, and asked me to pay about 30% which I agreed since he was brining supplies and started working. He verbally told me he will replace my outdoor doors and add it to the contract with no extra charge at the beginning. He removed the molding and when I told him I am bringing the doors to be installed he said i need to pay more. Then twice, he threatened to walk away: once after he broke the concrete all over the house, which had made it so hard to walk over them safely without getting hurt for several day. At this time, he said the section of the concrete that was not part of the contract will have different color and I should include that to the contract and irrigation system for $2500 which I accepted it :-(. The second time was few days after and 15 min before they were pouring the contract. he said they will leave without pouring and I will be responsible for the cost, so I paid him the rest of the money. By this time, I had paid him $14000.00 in total for work that was not completed or completed not to standard. One of my Neighbour who was not happy with the construction waste and supply said this is not a license contract would work and if I am sure he is real contractor. I started searching for business number on his invoiced and noticed it was his cell and Pac Inc does not exist. His partner or associate contacted me while I was at work. When I asked him if you are with Pac Inc, he said no he with Pacific Arborist and calling on behalf of Jose. The work either is not complete or if it is semi complete, is not to standard. He came when I was not home and took his few tools, construction woods, and some of my personal items. Since then, he is not answering calls or text. I sent him an immediate cessation notices via email and text and will mail it to the two addresses on invoice / contract he sent me and another invoice that is address to someone else. I am afraid he comes back when I am not home. All my cabinets, chairs, rug, and supplies that he moved from garaged temporary (two days, that he needed to finish work in the garage, before rain) and to the back yard were ruined due to rain and wind in past several weeks. I have documented everything. He has been leaving business card in mailboxes per my Neighbours, I don't want other to go through what I have experience emotionally (I am embarrassed for falling for his lies and not let him walk away the first time he threatened me, this way I would have lost only $5000), financially (his work, those completed needs to be fixed to meet standard and those incomplete need to be completed since I have big hole in my garage wall, construction waste that I need to arrange for pick, and so much more).
