Joe was hired to remodel kitchen. We had a verbal agreement. He would work nights and weekends and would be finished the week of the 4th of July 2024. He began demo on June 6th. He was paid $4,750 as a deposit, he requested and was paid $5,500 two weeks later. He did not show up numerous days. It took three weeks to demo the kitchen. We had to do some of the work to move the process along. He was nowhere near complete the week of the fourth. At the end of July he requested $3,000 more for supplies because he said he bought cherry for the cabinets and since they are going to be painted he will use maple and wasn’t going to return the cherry because he could use it on another project. He was paid $4.000 with the agreement he would have the cabinets and electrical done by the end of the next week. It is now August 16th and the kitchen is nowhere near complete. We have asked for invoices for materials purchased and none have been presented. We have asked for materials purchased to be given to us and we will go to someone else, no materials have been given and he will not communicate with us.
