I had an item for sale for $70 on Facebook Marketplace. The buyer asked to use Zelle to send money instead of cash. The buyer asked for my email to verify after I gave them my phone number that was already set up on Zelle. After they "transfered" the $70 I got a suspicious email from [email protected] notifying me that my funds were on hold until I upgrade to a business account. In order to upgrade, the buyer would transfer $300 additional dollars and then I would reimburse them. Zelle would verify the reimbursement from a screeshot I emailed back to the shady email address. When I questioned the buyer they pressured me to go ahead because they were trusting ne with their $300. Once they "transferred" the additional $300 I got another email from "Zelle" with instructions for reimbursement, including getting the buyers Zelle info. When I got the buyers email and checked it on the zelle app the name did not natch and they said it was a joint account. That is when I googled the scam and told them no to any further zelle interaction. They were mad and tried to claim I was scamming them. When I replied with the link to the ScamPulse.com page on the scam they stopped responding.
