Found an advertisement on kbb.com for a used prius prime at $21,995. A good price. After spending hours taking photos of my trade-in, negotiating price and logistics to pick up the car they gave me a final quote that was nearly $27,000, far more than $21,995 + registration & fees I was expecting. Turns out they included "mandatory dealer upgrades" that were not disclosed on the KBB website, and were not discussed with me at all until I asked about a price breakdown of the $27,000. I asked them to remove the upgrades, that I was just interested in the car as is, and they said they were mandatory.

These are bait and switch tactics that steal money from people who don't understand the fee structure of these vehicles. The car was advertised at a price which was not obtainable on a website without disclosure of these mandatory upgrades. Wasted hours of my time.
