Paid Kelci Potter in full in September 2023 for a ring. Seller stated that the lead time was 4-6 months. After 6 months, I emailed the seller, no response. Emailed the seller after 10 months, no response. DM’ed sellers Instagram page, received response that seller doesn’t allow messages.
Never received my ring, no communication from seller, both PayPal and my bank are unable to investigate or reverse the charges due to timeframe of purchase.
Kelci Potter is a Scammer

I ordered an alledgedly handmade14k ring for around 2,300 dollars in December of 2021 with a lead time of 4-6 months, as stated on the item listing. I messaged the business in December 2021 to confirm the size and ship date. My message went unanswered and after several emails and months of messaging, I finally received a response in April 2022 that my ring would ship by mid June and that my size had been confirmed. The time frame passed and I did not get the ring until late July 2022, 7.5 months after I ordered and past the timeframe to file a claim with PayPal . I was charged 50.00 to ship the item, which I assumed was for expedited shipping that was insured with a signature. UPS informed me that any item over 1,000 dollars has to require a signature. The item was shipped ground (which took 7 days) and when it showed up, the package containing the 2,300 dollar ring was not insured and did not require a signature. The business did not offer to refund me the difference in shipping costs, and pocketed at least 30 dollars from shipping.

The ring was huge on all of my fingers so I knew the size was wrong. I looked up a reputable jeweler in my area to try to see if the ring could be resized. The jeweler, who has decades of experience and reviews noting their expertise, told me the ring was a size 9.5-10. The inside is not round so it did not sit properly on the mandrel and they said it was likely a 10 but it stops at about 9.5 due to the non uniform center. I asked them if it could be resized since the ring was supposed to be a 7.75. The ring was placed under a magnifier and showed me where there were spider-web type cracks within the ring and the gold itself was extremely porous. They explained that any attempt to size down the ring would possibly crack or destroy it. Also, because it was so much larger than that it was supposed to be, there would not be a way to resize that would not change the entire shape or design of the ring. They informed that the casting was poor, and the person who made the ring did not have knowledge about what they are doing. They said the only way would be to completely remake the ring again in my proper size but that would not guarantee that the next ring would not have these same issues and that I should send this ring back for a refund. They also questioned the purity of the ring as the ring is NOT STAMPED as per what is usually required when selling gold jewelry. The jeweler noted on the receipt that the ring is "yellow metal gold" because they did not feel comfortable stating it was 14k gold without a stamp.

I obtained documentation from the jeweler with this information and I wrote the seller to let them know. They took responsibility for the size being wrong but refused to refund me. They asked me to send the ring back to have the same ring resized, despite the jeweler telling me there was no way to resize this ring without damaging it.

I posted about my issue on Instagram, where this business gets most of their sales, and I was contacted by a handful of customers who had similar problems with their items being way off in sizing or having visible holes and pitting from poor casting. The business Instagram page, that is run by the business owner, frequently deletes comments from their customers asking for order updates. Customers will regularly comment that they haven't received their ring in almost a year, asking why they can't get in touch with anyone, etc. There is no place to leave a review or warn other people.

The business maintains their stance that these are just "imperfections" and come with the nature of handmade jewelry. The state that the pitting, holes, and cracks are apart of the artistic expression. They also claim to do an ancient process that is no longer practiced to make the items and that is why it takes upwards to a year to complete an order. The process they are referring to is not ancient, it is lost wax casting and it does not excuse or account for why the gold is extremely porous. I was informed by several jewelers who do lost wax casting that these holes are in fact not an expression of artistry but a sign of a poor casting that leads to a brittle ring that will break at some point with regular wear.

The business also has sales every few months with discounts that the business owner admits will cause an influx of orders that take longer than the estimated lead time of 4-6 months. She does not disclose this when having the sales. When I wrote the business claiming that the lead time is false advertising as every customer I've spoken to doesn't get their item until at least 7-12 months, the business changed the lead time on the website to 6-8 months as of last week. The 4-6 months can still be seen on some of the item listings, some of the items say 8-10 months. There is little to no consistency in information and any attempt to ask where the item is in the process is met with vague wording and no details.

The seller states they hand make every single item from scratch from the mold to the casting to the polishing. There is proof that the seller has told some customers she sends off the items to a caster to be made and only does the wax mold and polishing. Again, information that is contradictory and not consistent.

The business owner will tell customers they don't understand the hand made nature and special process she has. She states her rings are "heirloom quality" that will be passed down. Her gold is unique and unlike anything else that is out there and is worth the wait. She states these rings are not machine made but made lovingly by hand from start to finish. Again, there is no stamp anywhere on the ring or anyone else ring I have spoken with.

The amount of time she takes to complete the order often leaves customers without recourse to file a claim against her if they receive the wrong size or a poor quality casting. I am currently in the process of trying to file a claim to return this item for a refund but have not been successful yet. I will update if I am.
