I actually found another gentleman whose wife said they'd purchased a cat and loved it - a ton of people posted photos of the cats they had purchase, which they loved - and connected on LinkedIn, where he said they had a great experience and gave me the owner's phone number. I chose LinkedIn because it seemed so easy to spoof a Facebook Account. I literally mined the entire internet for information about whether it was a scam and I got nothing.
So I just spoke with the owner - Stephanie - on the phone and she was absolutely horrified.
We went back to the Facebook page so I could show her the person responding to the comments saying she would follow up on messenger...and the responses were gone. Kelly Bright deleted them all.
This Kelly Bright woman totally spoofed the whole operation. It's a big mess and now she and I are both filing police reports. I think we both cried a little it is so terrible. I am glad to know that her cattery is a thing, and that people have been really happy with it, because I had already begun the process of reporting Blue Ridge Russian Blues as a scam...and that would have been a terrible thing to do to a legitimate business owner. From my experience with zeet, I know that it would have been really really hard to come back from that kind of negative stuff, so I'm really glad I got information before I took that route.
I can now say that it's legit but they were spoofed.
I am glad to know that it wasn't the owner - it was a scammer - and I'm both sad to deal with this but also glad that it wasn't someone that didn't have the financial means to be able to take the financial hit ($200-$450 depending on what the bank says) without being completely financially drained in a time where we recognize how privilege we are to be able to say that. Used $bringjknow2 or $jkasap on CashApp. Used [email protected] on VenMo.
We are really so fortunate. We didn't tell our kids what we were doing. We hadn't bought a carrier or anything else for the kitty. And we are going to be okay.
