I experience a significant amount of damage from the hailstorm that hit Arapahoe County in June. I contacted KenG fence to assess the damages for an estimate for repairs for the insurance company. He charged me $400 for the estimate which he stated would be applied to the work done later. After collecting the money, I had a great deal of difficulty getting in touch with him. Ultimately after several weeks of multiple attempts to contact he was reached and came back to the house for another estimate which he submitted to the insurance company. This estimate was apparently extremely inflated and was countered by another insurance adjuster site visit. Ultimately, because I had already paid him $400, I had the main damage to the fence completed. After MULTIPLE verbal estimates, held him to an estimate that he had emailed of $3100. He requested a 50% downpayment for the work. Again, the actual work was significantly delayed, again with difficulty reaching the contractor. Ultimately, a crew showed up and the work was completed over the course of several weeks, usually late at night. During the work, however, I received several "supplements" in my email with increases to the bid amount, all 'signed' with my name typed in at the bottom. I had not authorized any of these supplements or additional work. Upon completion of the work, he sent a crew member to pick up a check for the balance, which I provided. He stated this was not sufficient and asked if I had received his emails. He then showed up but appeared altered and unfocused; repeating questions and information repeatedly. He stated that the balance due (which was now up to $4200 - well above even the initial authorized estimate) was due to the fact that he had to replace 4 additional posts, and that I should "make it right". When I refused, and requested that he leave my property with the payment agreed on, he then contacted my insurance adjuster, with additional "documentation" of additional work done, and told my farmers insurance adjustor that I (the client) had requested that all future insurance payments go directly to him, and not to me. Fortunately the insurance adjustor contacted me personally and I was able to confirm that I had NOT authorized any extra work to be completed, that NO further work was scheduled, that the original estimate and work done was completed and paid in full. I ended up paying him $500 over his original estimate for work done but do not wish to have any further interaction with him to attempt to recoup this money. I just want to warn both consumers and insurance agencies about the fraudulent behavior of this contractor.
